The 1tb ssd holds the programs while I use the 500gb SSD as a scratch drive I just render to it as I have faster write speeds. However if I have no sound I could also edit 4k on my old GPU which was a 2010 Quadro 2gb card. I put a 1070 8gb in and it's great but the processor can't keep up with decoding audio and video playback simultaneously. My AMD FX8350 just can't cut it, not really. To edit 4K plus I honestly just need to buy a new motherboard and CPU. I edit in DaVinci Resolve which is GPU dependent, but I also don't use proxy files.
